Was this the origin of the captured Mosquito demonstrated at Rechlin in late 1943? The date and condition of the Mosquito would make this a very good candidate.

Hello all!

thanks for the abundance of answers;

kaki, I am thinking along the same lines, as soon as I get my new scanner, I will do more and better scans of all the pictures I got, so this rather bad quality picture has to suffice for now.

as posted, this photo was taken on the beach near St. Brieux, so it is very likely that it was damaged in the Paris area, tried to reach the coast but had to crash land there.

on the other photos I have, you can clearly see that all three props were bent, indicating a belly landing with running props.
most likely, the wheel covers were damaged in this landing as well, maybe resulting in them being removed.
at least, the one profile of a captured Mossie shows it with removed wheel covers.

one really amazing fact about this Mossie is the following: I am living in Vienna now, but my parents reside in a town not far away from Linz, both recon targets for this particular Mossie.
now, I received the photos of this very Mossie from a gentleman, who was in charge for it for one night, before it was recoverd by the LW.

cheers from Vienna
phil

I enclose scans of the pair of force landed Mosquito photos from my collection I was talking about earlier.
Most probably, we are talking about the same machine (just check the bent propeller blade tips).
