U.S. Iranian Mission - crash 28 Feb 1942 - VVS PS-84 (DC-3 type)

A little revival of my post from 2020.
Received word that the aircraft was a VVS PS-84 piloted by Major Kirill A. Mamonov, plus 3 other crew. C/n or registration not known.

All 9 Russians and 3 Americans on board were killed in the crash.

Among occupants also the commander of 152 Aviabaza at Abadan, Iran, a Soviet receiving point for American airplanes.

If VVS experts know more about Major Mamonov, then happy to hear so.

Leendert

It suddenly goes quick, thanks to generous info from the people of the Soviet Transport Data Files:

The 4 Soviet crew members are all known:
КК, м-р Мамонов Кирилл Васильевич
pilot Major Kirill Vasilyevich Mamonov
штурман м-р Задарёнок Фёдор Петрович
navigator Major Fyodor Petrovich Zadaryonok
вср, мл. л-т Антонов Иван Иванович
air gunner/radio operator 3rd Lieutenant Ivan Ivanovich Antonov
тех. ав. бортовой, воент-к 1 ранга Цыновников Иван Егорович
flight mechanic Military Technician 1st Grade Ivan Yegorovich Tsynovnikov

The commander of the 152 Aviabaza was Colonel Viktor S. Muravyov.

Leendert
