Re: Two SAS lost Finland 1942
According to this Norwegian wiki page, they were actually shot in May 1944, on the 25th (Hans Skjærvø) and on the 26th (Thore Eugen Sentzen).
https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trandu...n#25._mai_1944 For some reason, they are not listed in the website www.specialforcesroh.com, that has many names of SIS/SOE/SAS agents among other "special units" (like commandoes and paratroops). A memorial commemorates Sentzen: https://digitaltmuseum.no/011022717576/bauta More details here: https://mia.no/ullensaker/grav-8 Both men left Norway during the Lofoten raid in March 1941 to join the Allied side. Sentzen is said to have sailed with a fishing boat to Norway in 1942 to establish a radio station but it was bombed. |
Re: Two SAS lost Finland 1942
Fair point Brian, apologies. I was sounding off about the plethora of stories of WW2/Special Forces derring-do that didn't make sense and was confused by the reference to the SAS being involved. Neither is an adequate excuse.
