You must be very careful with them. Apart of horrible style, those accounts often did not reflect true nature of events, being a little tuned up. I think that only the Soviet propaganda was worse, being pure fiction at several times. Look eg. for Crook's Spitfire for a comparison.

I just finished reading the book and all I can is to warmly recommend it to all those interested in Jagdwaffe. And for those interested in the Eastern Front it's a must. It provides a very good insight into the impact of experts on the air war in one section of the Eastern Front (Crimea in this case), into honesty of the claims of various aces and in various circumstances, but also how in the end, low in numbers, the Luftwaffe got overwhelmed and unable to protect its ground forces.

Having been in regular contact with the author for some time, I can assure you that this is one of the best researched air war books to be published in recent years. I ju7st can't wait to lay my hands & eyes on it!
