Thank you for the s/n of the Ju 86 Z. I have no idea where the information comes from, but 3 of the s/n are wrong.

0240 was exported to Bolivia (Mariscal St. Cruz)
0241 most likely one of the Chilean Ju 86 Z (first flight in February 1939)
0242 Ju 86 D for Luftwaffe (first flight in May 1937)
0243 Ju 86 D for Luftwaffe (first flight in May 1937 also)

And this seems to be a cockpit of a Hungarian Ju 86 K (image detail) :)

The data were taken by Stig from the aforementioned book by Amaru Tincopa and Santiago Rivas (Axis aircraft in Latin America).
There were a few apparent errors with the W.Nr. of the bomber aircraft as well (as discussed earlier).

P.S. Thank you a lot for that instrument panel photo! I haven't seen it before...

Hi Peter
Pretty alarming update, if you ask me. Since the Bolivian aircraft should be in the book as well (I assume), I wonder what it quotes for that one?

Anyway, the two authors list a Chilean contact who they specifically thank and I can only suggest most (all?) Chilean data comes from him, or at least has been checked out by him.

Have to check the book again when back home.
You don't happen to have any gaps for the other three civil Chilean aircraft?

Cheers
Stig

Re: Junkers Ju 86s for Chile

Thanks Stig,

Bolivia:
Yes, the Bolivian Ju 86 should be in the book. Can you take a look at the book later?

Chilean Ju 86 Z:
Difficult. There are only a few gaps left. My assumptions:
0241 Chile 1, first flight 25 Febr 1939
0497 Chile 2, 21 Jan 1939
0500 Chile 3, 14 Sept 1938
0501 Chile 4, no info

Thanks again Peter

Yes I will certainly have another look when back home.
Will send you a PM about it, since we are straying a bit from the subject

Take Care
Stig
