Re: Unidentified RAF airplane in Greece 1941

Dear Globetrotter ,
Very interesting your infos about the action of Yugoslavian Air Force in Greece. Except the Do-22's I didn't know that other yugoslavian aircraft have been to Greece during April 1941.
The location almost surely is the albanian town of Saranda opposite to the island of Corfu. The name of the town comes from the greek word Agioi Saranta ( which means Fourty SainGreet Martyrs ) because this town was in the greek region of Northern Epirus.
Hope this helps.

Best regards Tasos

Re: Unidentified RAF airplane in Greece 1941

I have some info about this airfield.
Agrinion airfield was used by the RAF during its brief stay in Greece. According to a report written by RAF at 1/1/1941, regarding the situation of the greek airfields , Agrinion airfield had two runways of 1000 yds each (suitable for Gladiators) which could host a fighter squadron.

Hello all!
here is the link you requested, Tasos:http://members.tripod.com/~aeroclub/fligth.html
There you will find intersting unique infos about the airfield called by the germans "Corinth airfield" at the WW2 button. The remaining question is where this probably Avro landed at Crete. There must be some info about it.Which person was carried with it?
At Agrinion airfield some floatplanes were converted to land planes again.Do somebody has some pics from the airfield? Is known ,if some captured french fighters Dewoitine 520 were used by the germans in Greece? I got some pics showing them together with some Yugo aircraft.Well, they were mentioned to have been shot at Greece which i doupt.
Had Molaoi airfield one or two runways and how long were they?

regards!

The info concerning the Agrinion airfield had been taken from the RAF.Molaoi airfield was constructed by the germans at May 1941 and had one runway.A foto , showing a burned greek Do-22 in Agrinion airfield ,there is in the magasine 'Batailles aeriennes' issue 15 , Janvier-Mars 2001.

Hello Globetrotter!
sorry for delay.Well, i found two pics of yugo aircraft from ebay which mention that they have been shot in Greece.I am not sure about the airfield.I just can assume that they are from Agrinio because the airfield is unknown to me.If you are interested to watch them pls tell me how to show them.Maybe an email Adr. would be the fastest way.
