Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
According to Bader, he went down due to a mid air collision from his wingman, lost one of his artificial legs getting out of the cockpit - Germans/Galland allowed an airdrop of another leg - which he used to escape.
When caught I believe he spent the rest of the war at Colditz? Remarkable man |

The only 109 lost by JG 26 that day has been excavated and it still had its tail. Its loss closely corresponds with another RAF pilot's combat report. |
Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
Hi,
Please My question is about the two of the three a/c claimed by Galland on the 9th of August. The first in the morning . Then in the afternoon one at 17.41hrs Unconfirmed and one at 17.44hrs said to have been a 452 sqdn Spitfire. Which Spitfires were they (one at least could be from 452 Sqdn) and who were the pilots ? Thanks Alex |
Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
Perhaps Yves Michelet knows? He mentioned on this forum - way back - that he was a close acquintance of him.

Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
Michelet's French edition/translation of Galland's memoir did contain much extra material...but most of it came directly from the 'translator' ..
I don't recall it having the sort of detail required here ... |
Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
