Re: Austrian Fw 44 Stieglitzes

I have a copy of the sales invoice from Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau to the Norwegian Army Air Service for the 10 FW 44J Aircraft. They were waiting for collection by Norwegian pilots in Warnemünde ready painted and with German civilregs, for the transit via Sweden to Oslo-Kjeller airfield.
Unfortunately, I am in my mountaincabin but will be back on Saturday evening. Details will follow.

Thank you, Seaplanes! I would be very interested to see that or if you could quote the exact phrases.

Re: Austrian Fw 44 Stieglitzes

The 10 FW 44J Stieglitz purchased by Norway for the Army Air Service were all produced under license by CKD in Tsjekkoslovakia. They were transferred to Warnemünde to be picked up there by Norwegian Army pilots. They had also been assigned Army Air Service serial numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 on 24 February 1940. If these numbers had been applied before delivery is not known. They apparently all carried German civil registrations for the transit via Copenhagen and Gothenburg to Oslo-Kjeller. Focke Wulf invoiced the planes on 28 March 1940. Following the German invaion of Norway on 9 April1940, the planes remained at Warnemünde, later to be sold to Finland. Date of document is 15 August 1940.

Re: Austrian Fw 44 Stieglitzes

Thanks Björn

This is what I would call chapter and verse....
One point, out of curiosity, did the Norwegians pay the bill before the invasion?
If they did, we have a rather interesting case of Fw making a sale twice and getting paid twice for the same effort....

What ever the case, very interesting to know the WNr assigned to these non delivered aircraft.

Again a tip of the hat in the general direction of north-west.... :)

Thanks again Björn
Cheers
Stig
