I agree with your assessment of hole size and bullet caliber. The majority of the open wounds are circular and relatively small, appearing to be from small arms. Also, the spacing and distribution of those hits suggests plinking shots fired side-on to (i.e., facing) the fin. You are right, it’s a lovely relic. As with so many, I wish it could talk, tell us of its adventures. Steve |
