I'd say I have about 90% of his books. He and Roger Freeman made me realize the depth of the history of the air war in WWII. Still remember the first time I saw "Fighters Over The Desert" in 1970. It was a revelation.

One of the greastest if not the greatest WWII aviation historian.
He did not see his biggest project being fully completed but I'm sure he did everything he could for it to reach completion without him and he should have left this world proud of that incredible work.
Thank you, you will be missed.

As others have written above, he was an excellent researcher and author, and a real gentleman. His work was a great influence on me and many others, and it was a pleasure to be able to meet him in London on a couple of occasions.

From the Stone & Stone site:

In memoriam
31 October 2024
The prolific Christopher Shores, perhaps the foremost researcher and author of WWII aviation books, passed away on 23 October at the age of 87. Grub Street reports that his History of the Mediterranean Air War series, already near completion, will be finished in due time.

A sad loss but not a bad innings. Chris’s reference books will certainly continue to provide excellent information for many years to come.
