The fact is, Cowan was exhumed in Neustadt-Glewe on September 11, 1947, and later identified. Cowan was surely not transported from Parchim to Neustadt-Glewe for his burial! Navigation over enemy territory was difficult for fighter pilots, especially during aerial combat. Fritz Henni's report, as well as Willi Reschke's book, both state that a Spitfire was shot down over the Neustadt-Glewe airfield. It's clear to me that Cowan did not die in Parchim, and his comrades were mistaken about the location. Which I can understand.
