Re: Collapsing of parachutes as sport ?
Whats interesting is the accounts mentioned over and around Malta done by both sides appear to have not been intended to kill the unfortunate pilot, more a let off of steam after a combat. The parachutes in several cases are reported to have re opened without any trouble and if i remember correctly one fatality mentioned was simply because the initial collapse was too low to the ground to allow the parachute to breath and open again.
Again i am not looking to point any fingers at any nation and some comments about red cross planes etc..could easily excite some and the thread will go off on a blame game, so please lets all keep it at this level. For every shot pilot in his parachute i am sure there were 20 pilots saluted by their enemy pleased to see the pilot get out of his aircraft. I think it was Adolf Galland who said he got joy in destroying an enemy fighter and even greater joy when the pilot got out and opened his parachute |
Re: Collapsing of parachutes as sport ?
As far as I know the practice is Normandy battle old, I hv from the archives NVM nd second-hand reports
49 cases to pilot shoot while under chute hanging 5 shoot at boden it seems that the rules could change depending on the circumstances, nd the size of the stick you hv in hand.. remi |
