Re: ID of He111 of KG 54 down either 24.5.40 or 2.6.40 on beach at Ostende, Belgium
Hi Larry and Norbert,
Thanks ever so much for the summaries on the losses on 2.6.40. It appears that Oblt Berg and Flgr Kaschel were part of the same crew, hit by fire from No 92 Squadron Spitfires over Dunkirk, around 08.00hrs. Pity theres little information on the other a/c lost on this day, particularly Schmidt 6/KG54 a/c, and Petzold 9/KG54. Many thanks for your information. Best regs, Steve. |

Good morning Peter, your information is very helpful!
It completes all the remaining missing crew members from these losses, not mentioned previously. Its a crying shame that the codes and W.Nr were'nt mandatory on the loss cards, although this being the norm for this period! Thanks again. Best regs, Steve. PS. perhaps Larry can discover some more photos to help id these? |

Re: ID of He111 of KG 54 down either 24.5.40 or 2.6.40 on beach at Ostende, Belgium
I recently got my hands on a picture of Oblt Günther Seubert's B3+JM that belly landed at the beach of Middelkerke on june 2nd, 1940.
It looks that the WNr is 2565. Not sure about the 5's. They also could be 3's. Anyone knows about a good program to blow up pictures so I can identify the WNr properly? The attached pictures were created using IrFanView. Kind regards, Rudi. |

I googled around a bit and if I have some time this week-end, I'll see what I can do to enhance the picture. I was hoping that some members of this forum would have a detailed loss list of He 111's sorted by WNr. By using the process of elimintion the WNr of the above picture could maybe be established. Kind regards, Rudi. |

Allain,
Yes, that is the incident. We were able to fully ID this aircraft more than a year ago. Thanks! |
