Yes, Gibbes flew Black 6, and as he commented after her prang, he had always landed proper end up. The aircraft is currently restored and exhibited at RAFM Hendon and fortunatelly will not fly again.
Oh, and the discussion is slightly senseless. Gibbes flew in Africa, so everything he could entertain was sand and some dirty goats. Fighter pilot in England - oh, that was life!

Geoffrey Page,who flew with 56 Squadron during the BoB and was horribly burned during the battle, said that if he was the son of a rich man he would have gladly paid to have done it. I guess everyone comes out of war with different views.
