Thanks Bernard for your comments

You are forgiven for your english !

I am very pleased that we provide you a better study than you ever hope .

Three major goals drove our layout .

1 to do something easy to understand and to read

2 provide information we have as much precise as possible to explain our thoughts

3 provide as many iconographical support on the same subject as we could have (sometimes we do not have the right to reproduce such our such picture) , for better understanding : a drawing when correct provides much more data than a long text . Several pictures of the same machine , will reinforce our conclusions and help modelers for painting a particuliar Fw 190D .

Thanks one more time

Eric

Being a work in two volumes I guess they opted for a index for the complete set on second volume(?)

Re: NEW BOOK - Fw 190 D Camouflage & Markings - Pt. 1

Last friday I bought* the long waited Fw 190 D camouflage & markings: at first glance I can say only that is the dream-book for every Fw190 long nose fan.

Eric Larger and his friends have written a master piece.

A lot of new informations, photos (wonderful the colour pics of wn 211934) and like a gem the discovery that the two colour pics about JV 44 Doras are two different aircrafts and not the same. (all the day I have studied the pics published in Luftwaffe im Focus n.7 and I agree with you).

Thanks Eric

Francesco M. Lentini

*PS: 2 books, one for daily use, the other for my library.

I agree completely with Mr. Lentini, this book is exceptional. Have high expectations for Vol. II; what is the planned release date?

Bravo to Larger/Japo!

Best Regards and Congratulations,

Re: NEW BOOK - Fw 190 D Camouflage & Markings - Pt. 1

Many thanks

Don't forget Marc Deboeck , without him this project would never exist . This is our friendship and madness that enable us to realise it !

Next part , next year , You should be aware that to achieve such a quality it is a long time process and that we do it on our free-time , our second job every day . We do take a little pause (to few weeks for our wives !) after completion of volume I after several years of efforts.

Never mind volume II is well advanced but there is still a lot to do to complete it . And we don't want to sacrifice quality to speed .

I think that all of you could understand why to be patient some months more , be aware also that we are very pleased and conforted in our choices , by all the messages we received since the publication .

Many thanks to all of you .

Re: NEW BOOK - Fw 190 D Camouflage & Markings - Pt. 1

Well, mine arrived yesterday, and all I can say would echo all the great things already stated here. It is indeed a fine, well-researched work. Even better, it is so well presented that I have never seen a finer, more visually appealing book.

My one complaint (and it's not REALLY a complaint) is that all of the info on Lt Dortenmann's WNr 210003 will be reserved for Volume II! Hans Dortenmann is my favorite Luftwaffe personality, due to his courage and unstinting concern for the men who flew under him. I am really looking forward to Vol II.

I haven't even really gotten my "teeth" into it yet, but I am very happy to have it.

Many thanks to Marc, Eric and Tomas. Well done!

Re: NEW BOOK - Fw 190 D Camouflage & Markings - Pt. 1

Manyt thanks one more time for your message

That was a very long project for us , and your comments confort us in the way we dediced to do it .

Dortenmann aircraft was not int the book as we had no possibility at the time the book was printed , to have a copy of them .

Our rules were , except very few aircrafts interesting , not to do a detail study of an aircraft if we were not able to produce the photographic evidences to illustrate our hypothesis .

But it is not a definitive position .....

There is another issue to come !

Eric,
Just bought the book today. Fabulous! Excellent work to all of you. It is even better than the 109 book by JaPo.
I do have a question though, are you going to cover the D-13. I noticed a brief description of the camo colors but is there anything else in the coming volume?
Thanks again for an excellent resource.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190D Camouflage & Markings – Part I

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D was one of the most elegant and powerful birds of prey in the European skies at the end of WW II. Similar in conception to “Messerschmitt Bf 109K, camouflage & marking”, this new work provides a thorough insight in the aircraft’s camouflage and marking schemes.

Part I explains the common rules used for camouflaging and marking of the type, and describes in great detail the various colour patterns applied to the different Focke-Wulf built Fw 190D-9 and D-11 production batches.

The book is fully documented with extracts from original documents, black & white, and colour photographs, as well as colour schemes and colour profiles. It is completed with a comprehensive loss list of the entire Focke-Wulf production.

Highly recommended for all students of WW II aerial warfare, Fw 190 fans, and modellers.

Hardback, 208 pages, approx. 240 photographs, numerous colour schemes, and camouflage profiles of 32 aircraft. English text.

One assumes that this book is now in press and will be available within weeks. It is very exciting to note that apparently the original single volume soft-cover book has now evolved into a two volume hard-cover set. No details are available on what Part 2 will include or when its planned publication date will be.

If one includes the undoubtably first-class Dora book in preparation by Eagle Editions, enthusiasts will be very well served (spoiled!) by these new publications which can't come soon enough.

Cheers,

David

This is the absolutely best work on camouflage the Dora I've erver seen.

Re: NEW BOOK - Fw 190 D Camouflage & Markings - Pt. 1

Yes it is

It could be one of the machine flown by Barkhorm or another one .

Up to now we do not have the WerkNummer wore by Barkhorn's aircraft, which is for sure a Focke Wulf built aircraft.

But to be honnest we cannot say more , is is possible of course.
