Losses in the last days of the Reich
bryon, thank you for taking the time to post these pages. It really is invaluable information for the later months of the war for anyone undertaking any detailed research.

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hai all,
the last pages with losses Marz 1945, thanks for your interest |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Concerning #16: Interesting, that a pilot from I./JG6 was ordered to fly an officer from the Army into a pocket ("Tomaschow" = Tomaszów Mazowiecki) with a Storch. Looks like it was a "Himmelfahrtskommando"...poor guys.

That's fine, the information is great regardless of that! If I can look at the diary at Kew, I'll be able to answer my own question. Looking at the loss reports, K-4s seem fairly rare anyway. Regards, Paul Thompson |

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi all,
after digging into my archives, i have also found an other war diary (T 321, roll 50) documenting some aircraft losses of the Lw during the month of February 1945. I am starting with 01.02.1945 regards Byron http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...es/Jan45-1.jpg |

Sorry,
can you read it? |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi Byron,
Not as clear as formers but no problem at all; at least concerning the three NAG 8 losses. :D. Thank you again Byron. |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hello Byron,
First, thank you ever so much for posting this superb data. Second, and I hate to be the one to do this, but perhaps the result of my advanced age, I can't make head or tails of your last postings. Steve Sheflin |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi guys,
This microfilm is of a very bad quality, very dark, thus i am trying to get it better with photoshop. I hope the next pages will be readable. hier an other page http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...es/Jan45-2.jpg |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hello Byron,
Thanks ... And thanks again. In this last document I read two corrections concerning Stab JG 52 and 1./NAG 2. Do you have the "originals" somewhere? Somebody else has? Thank you. Cheers, franck. |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Kalimera Byron,
The latest scan you posted is clear to read and provides a fascinating insight! For all 109 fans lie myself, you can note the mistakes made at the time by the clerks as in this instance no 25, on 31 January; Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 786 496 is in fact...a Mtt-Regensburg produced Bf 109 G-14! This certainly puts some balm to all 109'ologists who keep - like myself - on making ID errors;-))) Thanks again for your work Marc |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
A question: What means "KPV" in the (here translated) sentence

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
I can only guess, but it could be "Keine Personal Verluste" (= No Personnel Losses)
|
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hello Franck,
perheaps i can find the original you want, i ll post it then and i`ll scan again separated the first two unreadable Pics we continue http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p.../Jan45-3-1.jpg |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hello Byron,
Not that one, but thank you anyway Byron. This is the first time I can read such report and believe me I enjoy it! Nice trip. One said "We know it, it's available here and there .. " maybe, at least everyone can appreciate; it's better like that. What about KPV? It was a good question. Thanks again Byron. How is life in Salonica? Cheers, Franck. |

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hello,
Thank you Christian! J2 is clearly visible (at least on that one). Noticeable is the white(?) trim around numbers, and size. A Bf 109G-6? More details? A stupid question: What we read on other side: that is; J2 is still in front of cross (from left to right) or behind? Cheers, Franck. |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi Franck,
Salonica is a very erotic town and the light in Greece is not in crisis. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...atSaloniki.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...sides/Kai4.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...pintheback.jpg On the last pic mount Olymp from the seaside. We can watsh every day the gods. and an other page Luftwaffe http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/Jan19454.jpg |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi Franck,
sorry, the caption in the Squadron book doesn't provide any more real details. And in which place the "J2" on the starboard side was positioned? Likely between Balkenkreuz and tailplane, but there was at least one unit (ZG 26) who did it the other way round (at least on some of their crafts). So, until any photographic evidence comes up - no idea... |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Byron,
Good to see again some great pics from Greece! I sure miss being in your country. Christian, many thanks for posting J2 +23; a nice shot I didn't know... Note the all dark camoflaged G-6 or G-14 in the background. Another fine example of this very late war low-vis camouflage as seen on the erla built G-10's in the 150 000 - 152 000 W.Nr. range. Any others of those late war 109's to share with us? Herzlichen Dank! Marc |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Hi Gents,
take a look on that interesting document http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...itelBefehl.jpg |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Marc,
off course I can share some 109s - but as it was rather quiet on the late war photo front in the web during the last months, I don't know if I can offer something new or really exciting. I've attached what I think will fit your field of interest (and of which I am not sure if it is in your photostream already). Hope the images are somehow useful! Regards, Christian |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Thanks for those Christian! I have them already referenced on my Flickr account.
On my side, I've found another picture of "2J+ Schwarze 23"; I was unaware of its appartenance to NAGr. 3, thanks for solving this one! http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...n/photostream/ Byron, Quite a document you found there... Gruelling times... Marc |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
TOUGH!
and the answer of my question to Roland! J2 + 23 whatever the plane side. Great Marc; start to be a tool :D. Regards, Franck. |

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Seaplanes,
You are wellcome Igor, Becouse of the Forum rules, i had to delete some, in order to get available space to upload new ones. Once i am done with uploading the new stuff, it is in my plans to upload the first ones you asked again. Byron |
Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich
Thanks for your constant uploading, Byron.
The list in post #74 makes an oppressive mention of a Ju 188 landing mishap in Sprottau which killed 12 refugees passing the street nearby. Interesting information which will unlikely appear anywhere else. BTW: Do you (or anyone else, for that matter) have in your files the loss of Fw 190 D-9 212152, II./JG 6, from 22 March 1945? Pilot was a Uffz. Hans Markert. It's in the JaPo book, but maybe the original report has some more details, like tactical number of the plane etc. My grandmother watched this crash when she was 12 years old. |
