The top photo is S/Ldr Johnny Wells of 609 Squadron, who led 609 in the D-Day landings period. The Goat is the famous squadron mascot, 'William de Goat'. William was regularly promoted, and by the end of the war had reached the rank of Air Commodore!

A small group of us are however in communication with Ruy. The people are there who can take over, it's just a question of ironing out the finer details.... but hopefully we can get something sorted out.

I hope it works out so that this forum remains in existence. I just set up that Facebook page as a backstop position should your group not succeed, as there is so much excellent information on here, and I (and I'm sure everyone else) would wish to see the continuation of the sharing of information on this site, or elsewhere. Should you succeed, I will simply close that Facebook page.

I have been a member of TOCH since the early beginnings, I really hate to see it go. If it does anyway and there is no follow up, I want to thank Ruy and many others who made this forum happen and creating a great community of Luftwaffe enthusiasts.

I think most of us missed it, Chris! It is very good news to have a reprieve. For those who haven't yet looked at Ruy's new message, the two most important lines from it are as follows: "Unless something significant changes I’ll keep the forum running as is for at least the end of this year." and "So long story short I will need some help from someone with a bit more experience with dbase migrations, and ideally vBulletin updates."

Strongly recommend contacting Jagan at rafcommands.com he's got superb IT skills, knows forums and is a good guy, he saved that forum
