Wow. That was the weekend gone then - and I got precious little done because my copy of Zerstorer arrived.

I also have the previous 3 versions of the book, so did I really need another? One simple flick through absolutely said 'yes' and that I had made the right choice.

This is an examplary piece of work by John Vasco & Peter Cornwell. The sheer amount of rare photos, detail, words, interviews and information is jaw-dropping, making it the definitive and final word on the Bf 110 in 1940.

Asides from the astonishing amount of research and work that clearly went into it, the thing I'll take away from the book is how disastrous it all was: the pages and pages of loss and damage tables and the never-ending portraits of deceased young men who, what the late Dr Michael Mosley termed 'died badly', due to Hitler and Goering's commands is sobering.

If you ummed and ahhed about forking out for the cover price, fear not - it's well worth it: over 300 packed pages in high-quality design with plenty of new images and info.

Thoroughly recommended.

That's my 'mean, moody, magnificent' look. Well, mean and moody anyway... :)

purchasing my signed copy from the Kent Battle of Britain museum today. Fabulous book! Not the first time I've met John, but what a lovely gent (with a wealth of stories). Humble and generous too - funds generated by book sales today at the museum stay with the museum. The Czech ambassador to the UK was also present (unveiling a plaque to the last Czech airman lost in RAF service) and Spitfires flew overhead. Quite a day...

I think he means the first edition of 'Zerstörer', and the other two books of mine that have been published by Red Kite.

The first edition I published myself in 1990; the second edition by Schiffer in 2002.

Finally arrived in Canada yesterday.

Excellent production, great content (text and illustrations), all around a worthy purchase.

Kudos to the authors and team on a job well done.
