@ Stig, I do read W.Nr. 350 374, a W.Nr. close to a known FW Aslau produced Fw 190 A-8 batch (W.Nr. 350 151- 350 300).

Cheers

Hi Marc,

I think it is 380 374. Here is another shot of the same machine:

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/380block.htm

Wondering where these photos were taken. I bet there were not many airfields with Ju 388. Merseburg?

Cheers
Roger

Hi there,

the photos were shot at different locations. The ones with Fw 190 380374 are from Pilsen, B-17 "Phyllis Marie" was captured at Altenburg (IIRC). Don't know about the others though..

Thanks Roger (and Christian/Marc)

Maybe 380354 is the only digits that fit? Otherwise I cannot understand how anyone can even interpret the first three digits shown in the photo by Andrew.....:) Looks even worse than from the lousy angle we started out with here.
Perhaps it is recorded as 380354? Oh well, if everyone agrees, then I will show it like that, unless someone objects of course.....

With regard to the Ju 388 line up, yes I have another photo which states Merseburg, so I think it is a good probability.

Cheers
Stig

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Unlikely that these Ju388s are at Merseburg. There was no line up of such planes, although many were there, most of them damaged and dispersed.
Most probably these Ju388 are photographed - as often - at the ATG Schleuse Altenburg.

Danke Roger !

Aa for the location, there is a fair possibility the 109's were depicted at Altenburg indeed:

If this can be confirmed, we have I./JG 110 machines.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-PIC-OR...AAAOSwevZalZHP - This one is from Zellhausen, Bf 109 <<2+ from JG 4 in the background. But I think this is the first shot we have of the Fw 190 D-9 in the foreground showing some of its markings and its Werknummer..

Gents,

Without consulting my files, I think the Fw 190 D-9 in Post 819 is a 600xxx werknummer series machine based on the small fuselage balkenkreuz. If so, then "WNr.600--6". The tail band (yellow-white-yellow) points to JG 2, and the white III. Gruppe bar a machine from 9. Staffel.

Cheers,

David

Why not blue-white-blue band of JG 300?
The bar is rather of II. Gruppe. II./JG 300 had Doras according to strength reports cited in JaPo book, was II./JG 2 reequipped with them too?

Many thanks for your expertise, Jerry !

Thanks to the helping pointer of Olivier Menu, over on Bf 109 from Anton to Toni Group, you set the record straight for those planes found at Babenhausen and not at Zellhausen as stated by Hideki Noro.

Much indebted

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Gents,

Thanks all for the clarifications regarding the Fw 190 D.

The Me 262 on the right in post 831 is a close relative of the one on the left, it being WNr.110745 found at Giebelstadt. Though not posted here, it is seen in a well known NARA photo that is an oblique aerial view from its right side adjacent to a bomb crater. A comparison with the above and this image matches exactly with the bomb crater in front of the machine and position of the engines. A rather reduced version of the image is shown on page 623 of the Classic Me 262 Volume 3.

Cheers,

David

It depends of which Babenhausen (Hesse or Bavaria) we are talking about.
This said, here are the respective positions between Babenhausen and Zellhausen.

Enjoy it :)
