With a bit of adjustment they both seem to be reconnaissance machines: 77022_ and possibly 201054.
If that second one is correct then it was a NAGr. 11 aircraft which suffered minor engine damage on 17 February 1945 during a non-operational flight. If they were photographed together then the other may be 770220 which was delivered from München-Riem to Lonate, Italy on 24 February 1945 (ULTRA CX/MSS/T472/2). |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks Andy, for those great shots, and Nick for your W.Nr. decoding.
As said by you, Nick, Bf 109 G-8 W.Nr. 201054 form NAGr. 11 is known to have had engine trouble 17 February 1945, location unknown but most probably Udine-Campformido in Italy. As for Bf 109 G-10/R2 W.Nr. 77022x "Kleine 7", it is believed to have been found in May 45 at Udine-Campoformido and to have been on strength at 1./NAGr. 11. In this W.Nr. range, we can exclude : - W.Nr. 770223, delivered from WNF to 1./NAGr. 3, 2 April 1945 - W.Nr. 770224 "Weisse 10", on strength with 2./NAGr. 12 in Hungary, late 1944 - early 1945 - W.Nr. 770228 "Weisse 12", 1./NAGr. 12, lost 25 March 1945 during a failed crash landing due to AAA east of Wilmsdorf, killing Oblt. Kurt Kohlhagen. Thanks again for your find, Marc |

Hi there Gang,
Thanks to Michael Veith, over on Late war Bf 109's Group, Fb, the best photo so far of Erla Leipzig built Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. unknown "Schwarze 3", 10./JG 51, seen after being flown in for surrender at Kopenhagen-Kastrup, May 1945. Source: Image from the RJ Atkinson personal collection. https://fotoweb.airforcemuseum.co.nz...-Collection%2F The second photo of a deep oil cooler Bf 109 G-14/AS or G-10 is possibly taken at Rheine in April 1945. https://fotoweb.airforcemuseum.co.nz...DMesserschmitt Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
This 109 is also on the airforcemuseum site. Not sure if already posted.

Thanks for shoring up one of my lapses: though on my Flickr page, I forgot to mention here Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 465 466 "Schwarze 8", also from 10./JG 51 and seen at Copenhagen-Kastrup in May 1945 after flying out of Fl. Pl. Brüsterort. Source: Ronald Wynn Russell Collection via airforcemuseum.co.nz. |

The most striking example is Bf 109 K-4 «Schwarze 1», from the same unit, which landed at Bornholm, having flown across the Baltic with an Erla built G-6 right engine panel: https://bornholmskebilleder.brk.dk/c...wmode=infoview Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
Thanks to Sinisa Sestanovic over on Messerschmitt Bf 109 - years 1935 to 1945 and beyond Group, FB, those two out of the common photos showing a factory fresh Bf 109 G-12 belly-landed, possibly on a frozen Elbe arm during Winter 1944-1945. https://www.ebay.de/itm/313530612437...QAAOSw-a1gn~49 https://www.ebay.de/itm/313530612634...UAAOSwq~xgn~6J The camouflage pattern with the tell-tale wide and white only fuselage Balkenkreuz speaks for one of the Bf 109 G-12 produced by Blohm & Voss at their Wenzendorf factory, 30 kilometres south of Hamburg. The lack of tactical marking might indicate a test flight or even a BAL flight abruptly interrupted. I of course stand corrected. Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Further to this subject, this former Russian auction possibly showing an Erla built Bf 109 G-10. "Schwarze 18" seems to be from 2./JG 53, the last base for this unit being Linz-Hörsching.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/dateposted/ Notice the Russian uniform. With my thanks to Batur Avgan, Late War Bf 109 Group, FB, for sharing. Cheers Marc |

I'm not sure is this topic the best place for these photos, but it's late war for sure ) The Danzig - Oliva flugplatz after Soviet Army capturing, mostly Bf 109s:

Here are two of the Danzig ones with a bit of adjustment for shadows, highlights and levels. I couldn't do much with the other two.

https://afirsov.livejournal.com/5963...CfbdOB1weeh_Lo The last photo is definitely taken at Fl.Pl. Danzig-Langfuhr as we recognise on the far right WNF built Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 510 959 "Grüne 4", Stab./JG 51, Danzig Langfuhr, documented on other photos taken 31 March 1945 and published by Christer Bergström and Martin Pegg in Luftwaffe Colours, Jagdwaffe Vol. 5 section 2, 2005, p. 150. In the centre, behind the Fw 190 F, we have another Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 512 174 (?) "Schwarze 2", unit unknown. The camouflage and the position of the W.Nr. are obvious clues for another WNF built plane. Reading of the W.Nr. on another photo published by Christer Bergström and Martin Pegg in 2005, p. 150, is not easy but the digits ..2 174 can be made out. As for the other machines, both Bf 109 G-14's ("Weisse 3" and "Weisse 6", possibly from I./JG 51), their location is said to be Fl.Pl. Danzig-Olivau according to the original caption from the above link which says the following (Google translated): "(…) Examination of the results of the attack on the Danzig-Oliva airfield by units 8 of IABKK 18 and 22.3.45. As a result of a survey of the local population, prisoners of war who worked at the airfield and personal observation with photographs, it was established: a total of 68 aircraft were burned at the Danzig-Oliva airfield and shot at by machine-gun and cannon fire, of which: 1 Yu-52, 1 Xe-111, 1 Yu-88, 43 Me-109, 4 FV-190, 1 FI-156 and 17 single-engine. According to the data presented to you by the shtakor's operatives No. 77, 81 of 18.03.45 and 22.3.45, as a result of two attacks it appears: 15 aircraft were burned, 19 aircraft were destroyed, 17 aircraft were damaged, 3 aircraft were shot down in an air battle over the airfield. In total, 54 aircraft were burned, destroyed, damaged and shot down in an air battle over the airfield "[that is, during the survey, more burned aircraft were found than reported]" Please note also, that the first photo with shows machines precisely recognised and described as being at FL.Pl. Danzig-Langfuhr in Bergström and Pegg 2005, p. 150, is also said to be Danzig-Olivau. Thanks for your photo enhancement, Nick. It is always appreciated. Cheers Marc |

Hi, Marc
I've found the report of 8th IAK on "Pamyat Naroda". The source of https://afirsov.livejournal.com/5963...CfbdOB1weeh_Lo is the same indeed. It is 8th IAK report about airstrike on Danzig-Oliva airfield: https://pamyat-naroda.ru/documents/view/?id=133024414 Sorry if repeated. Good work, Nick! |

This new sharp photo of a captured JG 53 Bf 109 G-14/AS, taken during Summer 1945. Though unknown, the location might be Neubiberg. Photo from Harold Henderson Earthman Sr., a Democrat Congressman, Summer 1945. Any confirmation or details about this plane ?

Maciej, Sorry, i missed your post until today... Thanks for the location, all clear now. As for the "4" color, I jgot it indeed mixed up: Christer Bergström and Martin Pegg, back in 1995, in their Jagdwaffe Volume 5, Section 2, "War in the East", p. 150, published them as "Gelbe 4". My bad. Sincerely Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
hi there Gang,
We have again on offer currently two new photos of this Erla built Bf 109 G-14:three other photos of "Schwarze 11" from an unknown 2./JG were already offered on eBay 24 April 2021. Any ideas as to which unit it belonged and where it was found ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/37359927884...kAAOSw659gtSJJ https://www.ebay.com/itm/15447497088...kAAOSwOyRgtSH7 Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Today we have, thanks to Sidney, a small grouping of four photos taken at Fl.Pl. Orvieto between January and February 1944.
https://www.ebay.de/itm/234049481894...Qn2bCR73LcA36w (notice the BR 21 pod underwing). https://www.ebay.de/itm/294223503502...eqrO3K5tDwNfq4 https://www.ebay.de/itm/294223505563...GclfpFl941_pG0 Bf 109 G-6/R6 "Weisse 7"has the Rüstungszustand current from late 1943 onwards with short antenna mast and D/F loop, a standard by 1944. Fl.Pl. Orvieto is known to have hosted III./JG 53 between 24 January and 22 February 1944. Together with "Weisse 19" seen in th distance on the first photo with its BR 21 pod underwing, we have 7./JG 53 machines whilst being stationed at Fl.Pl. Orvieto, January-February 1944. Cheers Marc |

Hi there Gang,
A new photo for Bf 109 G-6/AS W.Nr. 412 283 "SQ+RO" "Gelbe 4", possibly from 11./JG 26, photographed at Brüssel-Evere after 10 October 1944. With all my thanks to Mato Lion for correctly identifying the location. Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Bundesarchiv proceeds loading up new photos on their numerical platform.
Though the captions flatly state those photos are dated in 1942 on the Don Front, those four photos, taken by PK Reimers somewhere on the Eastern Front, do show two Bf 109 G-6. https://bild.bundesarchiv.de/device_...kHvcQcM46BHB2Y https://bild.bundesarchiv.de/device_...ghDrn5yRGhfOnc https://bild.bundesarchiv.de/device_...Kg8u1mzQg7v9KU https://bild.bundesarchiv.de/device_...hPxbvaMfv2sQ4I "Schwarze 15" sports already an Erla Haube: the whole sequence can't be taken earlier then November 1943. As evidenced by the Summer clothing of the ground crew, date is certainly Summer 1944. No clue for the unit nor location: the tell-tale yellow rear fuselage band is amiss on both machines. The type of tactical markings could indicate a NAGr. unit; NAGr. 5 or 15, for instance, did not always carry the yellow rear fuselage band, as evidenced by Bf 109 G-8 W.Nr. 201 143 "Schwarze 2",piloted by Olt. Leibnitz, from 2./NAGr. 5, which belly landed its plane at Nyker, Bornholm, on 9 May 1945. Following that line of thought, we might have 2./NAGr. 5 or 15 machines. From August 1944 onwards, the former unit was stationed at Riga, the latter at Piastow and Naglowice. Any confirmation/infirmation most welcome. Cheers Marc |
Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. unknown "Weisse 12", 1./JG ?, Tunis / No Algiers
Bonjour,
The buildings behind this plane are in Alger (Algiers). The exact spot is called "le Forum" where was the main office of the "Gouvernement général". Bonne journée. RB |
