In the description on eBay the seller states that the WNr is 180535. I presume he had a good look at the negative before he wrote this.

Hmmm beware of "original". 17x12 pictures ? A collector's photo album, but not that old.

That's as maybe but if you're interested in French aircraft, this album seems a reasonable buy as do a couple of the seller's other 'albums'.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

I have noticed some albums over the years that contain a mix of actual period photos, postcards, and period leftovers. These leftovers can be tricky and involve different photos at different sizes, incorrect border trimming and other telltale signs that may indicate later prints, fraudulent copies and 'photos that won't sell' otherwise, or so some unscrupulous sellers believe. There is a book titled "Spotting the Fakes" for small German military items but nothing I'm aware of that covers individual photos and photo albums. There is no substitute for research and becoming aware of the differences between photos listed as AK (Ansichtskarte or picture postcard) - a ton on Ebay Germany right now, and the real thing, meaning period personal photos.

Re: album with french planes

Steve,
Thanks for the pointer.
Most of the photos in this album show Bloch 152 of the french fighter group II/9 (1940/1942).
All theses photos were taken by George Lepage who was one of the pilot of this unit.
To all probability the albums photos prints where made from his original negatives.
Best regards
Rémi
