Hi Steve,

Thks for your comments and inputs.
Regarding Oblt. von Ankun-Frank's Weisse 1, I got the information from messerschmidt-Bf109.de, pic. N°3201. Will do my best...

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your comments Steve. Seems still have a hope to be in!!

Regarding white 5+ 1./JG 21, I build one multi entrance Excel sheet for all Bf 109 pictures I have. 14 columns, filter on each, from Type, JG, Gruppe etc... to nationality. I just have to click to get all the JG 21, for exemple, click on place, click on date until the final aim. Then hypertext link to get the picture.
Little bit more difficult when having only White 5 since you get all of them; but whatever it's quicker than looking pictures one by one.
In fact it's quite the same system adopted by Falcon on his search window's site. I'm trying to improve it using Access to be able to get all thumbs in one page.

Last, I knew for sure it wasn't JG52 so first I looked for Jesau emblem to get JG 21. (It's not in my head, yet). There is another (a third one, out of the trees) picture of the same plane in Falcon site.

Regards,
Franck.

Dear Denes,
gentlemen,

upon my return from a short spell of holidays I found this thread and saw that Larry Hickey has already said most of what is to say about this a/c and the legend on the engine cowling; I may add that on the backside of my original print of this photo it says " German fighters at an airfield in Flanders ", while the airfield was most likely either the one referred to in I.(J)/LG 2 documents as Mont St. Ecouvez or, not quite as likely, St. Aubin. This was all shown in JFV Vol. 9/I, page 363, photos 248 and 249, the latter bing another image taken at the same occasion. There have since appeared two more good and rather clear views of "white 2" showing the complete starboard side.

As for the motto on the engine cowling - yes, this is a traditional form of greeting coming from Hamburg as has been stated elsewhere in this thread before; it originated from children shouting the name "Hummel Hummel !" at the guy carrying two buckets of water by means of a yoke and his reply was "Mors Mors !" the latter being crude but not vicious, rather between helpless, angry and good-humoured. These days - if it is used at all which is getting increasingly rare - there is no bad feeling in it any more, quite the contrary, when two people from Hamburg meet in another town or country and happily identify themselves as citizens of the Hansestadt Hamburg.

Hope this helps.

Hello Mr. Prien,
Here is my post#19 extract, in the same thread. Captions for these pictures -most of them and mainly for this White 2 - gave Cambrai-Mont St. Ecouvez, March 1940.

Franck.
