Hi, Tasos and thank you for the scan of the article
It seems that even if the aircraft looks a bit worse for wear still large parts of it remain. Anyhow - a nice addition to the loss record! Regards, Andreas B |

Thank you very much Tasos for your effort.
We all are for sure very enthusiastic for such postings. The Aegean sea hides plenty of such treasures. Dimitri, take Psathura in your programme for next summer. |

Hi Fellas,
I recently acquired a document grouping consisting of Lt. Hasso Holst's Wehrpass, Soldbuch, and Pilot License, as well as his award document for the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Gold. When time permits, I will create a new thread with images of the documents as well as details regarding Lt. Holst I have gathered from both German and Allied texts relevant to the subject. To begin, the following is an image of pages 2 and 3 of Holst's Wehrpass. The KG54 Totenkopf is a watermark. |

Re: Ju88 Loss Data for I./KG 54, October 1942
hello guys
well i realy dont know why sooo many people are interested in an old rusty wreck in the middle of the sea,but let me tell you my story: when i was a little boy,my grandfather always told me the story, how he and his crew crashed into the sea with their JU88 next to the island of psathoura...well i was about 8 years old and thought, hey,i will go there one day and will find that plane...of course i had no idea how dificult it will be to find a plane somewhere in the sea next to a little greek island..but that was my plan more than 25 years ago... my granfather was the radio operator in that plane and he made many flights together with lt. hasso holst and the rest of the crew. after my gradfather died about 10 years ago,i got all his medals and also his flight book with all the flights he made and inside that book i red also the notes about the crash they made.....(when i will be back in germany,i will upload that page,i imagine that you could be interessted?) in october 1942 my granfather broke his nose accidently,so he couldnt flight for a couple of days, that was his luck, because as you know,lt holst and the rest of the crew never came back on the 14.10.1942 after all these years i nearly forgot the stories my grandfather told me...but some weeks ago,i found some letters, he wrote me, some years befor he died...and than i remembered me and i started to use the internet to find out more about "his" JU88...for me it was a great feeling when i realised that somebody found that wreck...and when i saw the picture...it was amazing...so know i am planning to go there this year (would be great to be there at the 27.may 2012,exactly 70 years later...) but well,we will see... greets and thank you mike |

Note that the WNr. 140212 was reported as a loss for KGr. 806 not once, but twice, after the Holst loss, which should resolve the WNr. conflict.
