Thanks to Yeomans I'm at this respectable forum :)
And of course with ask due to this aircraft. Maybe someone could help with any photo documentation about Ju 88's from the same period of time and from the same KG 30 unit?

Re: NVM for 6/KG30, Loss, Ju 88A-4, 4D+FP, 140099, 14.03.1944.

The description we have is :

"the camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey mottled dark green. The undersurfaces were spray painted black, whilst the engine cowlings were yellow with wavy lines of black".

I believe this is known as the "Wellenmuster" camouflage scheme but have been unable to trace any photographs of Ju88's from KG30 dating from the Winter/Spring 1944 that appear to match this description. Most seem to have a predominately green upper surface with blue-grey "squiggles" - excuse the technical term. I would be most grateful for any help with this.

I am aware that an aircraft from 4/KG30 coded 4D + AM was shot down on 21/22 March 1944 at Latchingdon in Essex but haven't been able to find photographs of that aircraft either.

I have a number of photos showing this camouflage but not on KG 30 aircraft. Have you looked at Red Kite's book on the Baby Blitz?

Thanks Chris,
Are you referring to "The Last Blitz - Operation Steinbock" ?

Any ideas on this piece ?

I think the numbering reads 88.03.256.01 and then underneath that 3115.4

humm... that number likely is one digit too short (8-)88.x03-256.01

Re: Ju88 Werke Nr. 140099 Data Plate

Ed,

Unfortunately I can't read that missing digit.

On other pieces (not associated with the above) I have :

8 88 735 69
88 735 650
88 509 0203
88 503 196 08

Would be very grateful if you could help with any IDs.

Nick

Re: Ju88 Werke Nr. 140099 Data Plate

As I know thanks to Yeomans camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey.

So it is probably RLM 76 - maybe any different ideas?

With mottled dark green. RLM 70 or 71? - Any ideas?

Soon I'll post hypothetical view so I please You for comments and notices.

Re: Ju88 Werke Nr. 140099 Data Plate

This time I'm starting with new Ju 88 A-4 of KG 30.
What is the most interesting, that we don't have any photographs. Only few parts of aircraft:

Ju88A-4 Werke Nr. 140099 which crashed in the UK on 13/14 March 1944. The aircraft was from 6/KG30 and was coded 4D+FP.
"The camouflage of the upper surfaces was a light blue-grey mottled dark green. The undersurfaces were spray painted black, whilst the engine cowlings were yellow with wavy lines of black."

And that's all. Maybe someone could help with it.

This profiles will be printed and exposed near to relicts of described Ju 88 A-4, so I would like to reconstruct this the most perfect I can.

My idea of painting:
Bottom parts painted black RLM 22
Upper surfaces RLM 76 - a litlle bit darker variant
Mottled green - RLM 70
Cross - RLM 66
Of course I'm waiting your opinion.
