18 August 1941 (continued)
Within minutes a dogfight took place involving 4. Staffel with no location given. Oberfeldwebel Stotz once again filing a claim by shooting down an I-18 (18) at 10:58. Oberfeldwebel Stotz possibly encountered the naval fighter escort for the bombers. This consisted of 9 MiG-3 and Yak-1 from the 5 IAP KBF in the area of Volosovo. From their number would be listed Mladshiy Leytenant Pavel Titov as missing flying a MiG-3. |

Re: Hans Hahn/Maximilian Stotz
Yes, Stig it should have been 1941. I have been consumed as of late by August 1942. I have been correcting my research into the Soviet Rzhev - Zubtsov Offensive of 30 July - 30 September 1942 for future work in print of the air war. I am not alone in this work. It will cover the German Luftwaffe and Soviet 1 and 3 VA. It will cover Shturmovik attacks, Soviet bomber and fighter activity. Luftwaffe fighter claims and bomber activity with losses. It will have personal experiences when it is possible to find. Stotz claims will be covered in the narrative.

25 December 1942
In the area of Pola Station to the north of Demyansk a dogfight took place with 4/JG 54 and the Airacobras of 28 GIAP. Leutnant Maximilian Stotz of 4/JG 54 claimed a P-39 (112) at 10:41 at PlQu. 28141. He then claimed another P-39 (113) at 10:43 at PlQu. 28142 and followed with another P-39 (114) at 10:45 at PlQU. 18292. Possibly the wingman for Stotz was Unteroffizier Hermann Leicht of 4/JG 54 claiming a P-39 (4) at 10:42 at PlQu. 28142. Actual Soviet losses were 2 P-39 of 28 GIAP with flight commander Guards Starshiy Leytenant Aleksandr Kostyuk and Guards Starshiy Serzhant Nikolay Pavlov both listed as missing. |
