Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi Ed. The Schweinfurt mission above was led by Col. Budd Peaslee; in 1944 as c/o of the Scout Force (Experimental) his call-sign was "BUCKEYE 30" (their ex-bomber pilots were "Buckeye 30-37" and ex-fighter pilots "Borax 40-47".

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Very interesting Nick. Some years back, a request was made for call signs and code names used by bomber crews. Nothing came of it.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
This is "The Hunting Club", 303BG as VK-B; lost 22.6.43.The artwork is on the left tail rather than nose, more common in Fifteenth AF. but also on several in the Group: Donald Duck with a blunderbus, written above is "Good Huntin'". MACR is 3077.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
#2 looks like L5440, abandoned by 142 Sqn at Berry-au-Bac on 16 May 40.
I have an open query about the code of this machine. Usually quoted as QT-H, this would seem to clash with K9259, abandoned at the same time. Ideas anyone please? |
