All I can say about this is that it used to be a Me 262 A-1a. Thank you for posting it.

Hi Snautzer and Dan,
Post #3281 - I have three other photographs of this aircraft, but sadly, the only information I have on it is: Me 262 A-1a found along the Autobahn near Augsburg. US unit not identified.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

This is a French built Ju 188E-2 No 3 and photographed sometime in between its first flight 26 Feb 1946 and its passing to 10S on 28 Oct 1946.
Oddly enough it was not accepted by the French Navy until 25 Oct.

Hi everyone

Off TOCH I have been taken to task by Eggert (our Ed North) for stating this (and three more) Ju 188 was
a) French built (Wrong, they were all French assembled. A great difference)
b) E-2 model (Wrong, the E-2 did not exist except on paper, they were E-1)

Having read the French book a bit more carefully, I notice it does not state manufactured. I was a bit over-optimistic and interpreted the French words "production and produits" for built, in the context of manufactured.

The reason why these assembled aircraft (also goes for all Ju 88) carried French c/n in the No 1 and up range, was a decision and pressure from both Britain and Russia that all German built aircraft should be scrapped and not used in military service. However an exception was taken for aircraft actually built/manufactured within the countries.

Sorry about my mistake, and thanks Ed!
Cheers
Stig
