It's a Siebel ferry, designed by Friedrich Siebel, who was also the owner of Siebel Flugzeugwerke

Re: eBay: German intrest

Thank you, Andrei. Can I assume this ferry was purpose made to carry anti-aircraft guns?

You are quite right. It was originally planned to use these ferries to transport AA guns for the troops who would have to land in England in the initial stages of Seelöwe

Besides the ports, rivers and canals of NE France and the Low Countries, these ferries served with distinction on Lake Ladoga to the east of Leningrad, on the Black Sea, in the Mediterranean, in the Aegean and in the Adriatic. A few were even used in the waters off NE Italy, SE France, Corsica and Sandinia. In addition to ferrying passengers and cargo, some were outfitted with Flak and others as Artillerietraeger. Some were manned by Luftwaffe personnel and others by Army (Heer) assault engineers (Sturmpioniere).
