Hi Rudi,

Contrary to the information on the back of the photograph, this unpainted Me 262 was WNr. 112325, from Kuno I, which was found along the autobahn near Scheppach.

Dear RudiS,

The two Bf 109 G seen sport a classic 1943 Mtt camouflage pattern observed both on the W.Nr. 16xxx and 18xxx batches; they have the small tactical markings usually associated with III./JG 77. Location is unknown : it could be Tunisia, Sardinia or Sicily.

Thanks Rudi for posting! This is only the second shot I see of this Me 262, the other one was printed in an old Jet&Prop issue years ago (see attached jpeg).
This is Me 262 170070 E7+02 / White(?) 12. Originally it was allocated to E-Stelle Rechlin and was found at the war's end next to one of the Autobahns between Hannover or Bremen and Hamburg (so either the current A1 or A7, where exactly I don't know).


How it ended up in its final resting place, whether it has been used for combat or from which unit it received its tactical number I also don't know. I would welcome any additional info on this bird.

Further to this plane: Erla built Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 41. ..., Frontschleuse Reims, September 1944. The other shot mentioned by Franck is from the Collection James Pruett and published in Barnes, Crump and Sutherland 2011, p. 62.
