The He 111 is a TGr. 30 machine and the stencilled "S3" unit code is an interesting detail that I hadn't seen before. It's probably not S3+KL since the 3. Staffel was up on the Baltic coast by the end of the war. The only S3+KK that I know of was lost in a crash on 6 October 1944 but that doesn't mean there wasn't a successor. It could be S3+KH which Steve Sheflin has documented transferring from Großostheim to Reichenau on 23 March 1945.

Hello Rudi,
** Post #3501 – Unless I am mistaken it is: Heinkel-Oranienburg-built He 111 H-20 (WNr. 700628) St.Kz. AL+HH, coded 5J+IL (5J=~1/5 size, I=yellow), small K on upper rudder. It was abandoned heavily damaged at Fl.Horst Schweinfurt, Germany (coordinates 50.048333 10.170000). NOTE: It retains a small “S3” from its prior unit still on its starboard fuselage side. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
