Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Data, Steve seem odd, but are sustained by facts, STKZ couldn't be AL+HH, but the 700636 seems to wear AL+BP, but they are most probably Kz's, A1+HH nd A1+BP, 700628 supported some minor "injuries" on jan.45 with the TGr.30, STKZ hv to be in the KU+M.

Post #3501 – Unless I am mistaken it is: Heinkel-Oranienburg-built He 111 H-20 (WNr. 700628) St.Kz. AL+HH, coded 5J+IL (5J=~1/5 size, I=yellow), small K on upper rudder. It was abandoned heavily damaged at Fl.Horst Schweinfurt, Germany (coordinates 50.048333 10.170000). NOTE: It retains a small “S3” from its prior unit still on its starboard fuselage side.

Steve, I'd differ from you on TGr.30 being the former owner and KG 4 being the current one. On the basis of the TGr. 30 Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungslmeldungen, I think that the reverse is more likely. The reports indicate that during 1944 TGr. 30 was receiving planes from other units but not giving any up. The unit's losses were considerable and its strength declined over the Autumn 1944–May 1945 period. As its initial inventory of He 111 H-20 was used up, it regressed to older types and by 15 April 1945 it reported 15 x H-6 and only 5 x H-20.

(Equally, I./KG 4 was receiving a lot of Heinkels in Autumn 1944 "von anderen Verbänden", as other units with the type were converted or disbanded).

Schweinfurt was used to some extent by TGr. 30 and was reached by the US Army on 11 April, when the war still had four weeks to run and I./KG 4 was based in Königgrätz (Hradec Kralove) about 450 km away. Obviously planes can move about, so location isn't conclusive.
