tnx Ed
#3649_4 : could it be the loss on 23-24/02/1942 of Hampden ZN-Z of 106 sqdn_P4323 crashed into Heligoland Blight ? |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
I don't think so Bertrand. P4323 crashed into the Heligoland Bight (sea).
Unless of course that information is incorrect. |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
#3663 : If the Hampden was lost into the sea at Heligoland Bight this a/c was not so far from the edge according all the known photos of this P2343 on beach..
#3664_2 : Lysander at Calais #3664_3 : Wreck of Douglas DC-3 OO-AUI at Saint-Omer |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Having now seen photos of the wreckage of P4323 I now concur with Bertrand.
The aircraft either crashed on the shore, or close enough for the wreckage to be recovered to land. |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
POST 3660 (Faenor). MAY be Spitfire V W3447 (EB-O ?) shot down 14 Aug. 41 on sweep St. Omer area, P/O A. L. Winskill evaded via Spain; the farmer hid him in a cornfield one of many in the region. Just a possibility.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Regarding #3649_4 which I think you mean is 3659_4 (?) as I can't see a 3649_4, this aircraft is 229 Sqn Hurricane V6704 shot down in France on 26 October 1940 (P/O McHardy).
