Re: new book on air War 1940
No, because you failed to fight long enough.

Re: new book on air War 1940
When did exactly Finland get occupied by an enemy force? Your far better equipped and relatively better numbered "army" (compared to ours) crumbled so fast as to make it a joke.

Re: new book on air War 1940
Juha,
Don`t forget that Finland must sign the peace on the Russian conditions. And please don`t forget that we had two enemies and you only fought with one, which acted like clowns in zirkus. Robert |
Re: new book on air War 1940
Even with the latter factor considered, Poles should have been able to put up a better fight on their own soil.

Re: new book on air War 1940
Just point me the country, which would win with these two enemies in 1939 or even in 1945.

You failed to fight long enough, so Polish troops could arrive to your country. This way you got only six Cyclones and few groundcrew. General conditions in Poland - no natural defence lines and complicated political situation that forced to fight on borders and disallowed to make a step back. Poland, with generally flat terrain and only one big river is just perfect country for tanks. Even so, Poland defended almost as long as mighty France, but contrary to the latter, did not surrender. Interestingly, Soviet troops had a lot of problems, and considering the number of deserters, the war could have looked really different if no Germans involved. |
Re: new book on air War 1940
Yes, did not surrender as some bunch of cowards (that govt-in-exile) fled the country abandoning their countrymen while being very safe from the harmīs way.
As for "complicated political situation", nobody forced that on Poles. They could have chosen to remain united instead of bickering among themselves. As for Soviet problems, that is not a surprise... |
Re: new book on air War 1940
What about the Irish Air Corps? Hope they are in there or there will trouble, begorrah!

Re: new book on air War 1940
IAC got their share of Polish lead in 1941, so it does not qualify for the book. ;)
Indeed the discussion goes completely out of topic, and someone apparently suffers from frostbite. ;P |
