I am professional- I am official illustrator for two publishers :) In general I make new profile from half hours up to maximum two hours of work. But most time is spenting on searching for data.

Cheers :)

From the print in front of me, I'd say it's either 63301121 or 63801121 - incidentally, this aircraft is 2 - +- of Stab./SG10 - I have a view of the other side somewhere, also it looks as if it was <-+- at some point in it's life too!

Chris

Re: FW190 bulk questions

Remember the Fw 190F-8/R1 that landed in SwedenFebruary 3 1945 that had W.Nr. 63801022.
But this plane didn't have the W.Nr. painted over both fin and rudder, it was painted as usual on only the fin cap.

“Black 2 + -“ looks like it has the same, or similar, number font for the W.Nr. as “Yellow 11 + -“, W.Nr. 681330, II. /SG 2 found at Neubiberg. "Yellow 11 + -" also has the W.Nr. painted on both fin and rudder.

That's an interesting point, Black 6-+- and 2-+- both had the same "squared" style of number, whereas 1-+-, 3-+-, 4-+- and 5-+- all had a smaller, narrower (more II./SG10-like) style of number.

Just speculating here, but perhaps applied by different painters?

That said, 2-+- is definitely Stab./SG10s. The heraldic elements (Luftflotte 4 ID markings, kennzeichen style, spinner spiral, etc) and location (Budweiss) all fit.

Incidentally, Yellow 11+- at Neubiberg is 6./SG10, not II./SG2 - II./SG2 did not operate under Luftflotte 4 at the time their Yellow ID marking elements were carried (the latter of the two forms being introduced on 7th March 1945).

It and at around 4-5 other 6./SG10 (plus Stab.II/SG10) flew to Neubiberg to surrender (with a large portion of II./JG52 and what was left of Ung. 101 JG) from their last operating base of Zeltweg on the 8th May 1945.

I'm not sure why this aircraft has been often mis-identified. Lack of familiarity with the ID markings and the units which used them is probably to blame.

Normally, and I'm using this term with the confidence of many years research and experience, any yellow ID marked II. Gruppe ground-attack Fw 190 was an aircraft of SG10.

The only tricky area is with I./SG10 and I./SG2 (who did both operated under Luftflotte 4), but this is also decipherable with experience (rule of thumb being - outlined number SG10, un-outlined number SG2), but as always there are exceptions!

Perhaps I should formalise this work and put it out for all to critique???

Hope this is of interest and help,

Cheers,
Chris

Re: FW190 bulk questions

Srecko,

Not much to add without references to hand (I'm in the office at the moment :(!)

Gelbe 7+- is an Fw 190F-8 and appears to have a yellow rudder. It would appear to be from the Arado, Warnemünde produced 58XXXX WNr. block (possibly 584 XXX) as the camoufalge is almost identical to II./SG10's Yellow 14+- mentioned previously. Speculating further, the spiral style is a good match for an SG10 aircraft, as is the number but the number is a little too large and I'd expect to see the yellow cowl band. Unfortunately, without a location, it could belong to any II. Gruppe SG!

Gelbe 1+- is an Fw 190A-8 and I believe it may have been II./JG1s and surrendered in Skyrdstrup, Denmark (poss. from 730 XXX WNr. block). Fw 190As (that didn't end up in service with Luftflotte 4 SGs) are not my specialist subject I'm afraid, so have to check references on this though!

Cheers,
Chris

Interestingly, the rudder on Gelbe 14+- also appears darker, but defintely not yellow, so Gelbe 7+- may also have had this feature,

Just a little more of my thoughts,

Cheers,

Re: FW190 bulk questions

Hi some of you know this picture
http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2014/...2007643988.jpg

I wonder what's type of 190F is it? F8 or F9.... and if it could be fitted with a wooden propeler?

Is there a photo of the plane seen front showing the propeler?

Thank you
