Hi Bf110

I was wondering that though the other plate (see link - not a part plate as it has the W.Nr on the plate) also says 09.39.

The shape looks more like a 9 based on the '39'.

Would be nice to know the block 2398 belonged to and whether 9.39 ties in. Supposedly Sept 39 was when the first B model was produced??

regards

Mark

The first He 115B came off the production line in Rostock in April 1939.
The first He 115Ccame of the line in March 1940. The last He 115's were delivered in July 1940. Some sources have claimed that Weser Flugzeugwerke delivered a series of He 115. This is not correct. Weser was only involved in a conversion programme, giving He 115 longer range by installing extra fuel tanks. Also some sources have claimed that the He 115 was reinstated into production in 1944. This is pure rubbish.

Hello Mark,

I used the W.nr. for comparison. But could also be a '9'. Let's see if the restorers will find the right date. ;-)

Its "FFS C 17" telephone number, where to call, in case of if this plane crashes and is found - to call its owner and report wherabouts. Simply two numbers too choose from.
Similar is known from other in the pre war era.
Ah, almost forgot. Plane was been repainted : from Original RLM 65/70/71 (factory paint) to Greener (Sky) shade of RLM 65 and Maritime RLM 72/73 upper surfaces.
