Re: New books by Brian Cull
Brian
I've just started reading "First of the Few" and one info at the beginning is interesting. Is there ogoing to be Volume II of the book? BTW. Just have finished "Fighters over Aegean" - superb book. Cheers! Dominik PS. I've found one mistake. GC 1/145 was not French unit. It was Polish. And, AFAIK, the sole unit using Caudron 714 in combat. |

How imminent is imminent? Any date yet for MARYLANDS OVER MALTA? I am really looking forward to read this book. Your effort to cover planes and campaigns that are mostly forgotten is praiseworthy. Cheers, Peter |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi guys
Thanks for the kind words - most encouraging! I have just been informed that 'Marylands over Malta' has at long last gone to the printers, so it should appear imminently! Will keep you informed. I haven't a price yet, but should anyone be interested in a signed copy please let me know. 'Blenheims over Greece & Crete' is with the publisher and March is indicated for publication. But 'Bill Lucy, FAA Ace' has been cancelled for lack of suitable material. Apologies. I am currently working on 'Air War over the Arctic' 1941-42 covering the British/American aid convoys to Russia, and the Russian/British defence of Murmansk, the main port of arrival. Early 2015, hopefully, for publication. Phew! Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Thanks Brian,
I see you have no problems to keep yourself employed. Is there any hope that we will see Vol 2 of FLYING SAILORS AT WAR within the nearest years? Cheers, Peter |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Peter
I'm afraid that the publisher of Flying Sailors at War is not interested in doing Volume II, so we have negated the 'contract' and I now have full rights, in which case I hope to 'do' something in the near future since the manuscript is almost finished. Might you be interested in publishing it, Peter? Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Brian,
Unfortunately I am not working in the publishing business. I am just an amateur researcher for moment digging deep in the combat claims by air gunners and with the speed of my work this will keep me employed several years. Anyway I hope you will find a publisher who is interested. Cheers, Peter |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Brian,
In one of my old favourites Hurricanes over Singapore I read that a sequel was planned: Fighters over Darwin with Dennis Newton as co-author. Is there any possibility that this book will be realised? It would be really interesting to follow the pilots who escaped to Australia from Java. Cheers, Peter |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Peter
Thanks for reminding me! I don't think this will now come to fruition, but one never knows .... Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi guys
Latest news: 'Blenheims over Greece & Crete' due for publication 1 March. I've just seen the cover - very impressive (it matches the content!). I'm currently doing the final edit. 'Marylands over Malta' - currently with the printer. Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Amazon.com has Blenheims over Greece and Crete on pre-order now.

Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Brian
I know you're probably quite busy but wondered if you had any update on the Maryland and the Blenheim titles, both of which I have funds allocated for :). Thanks Mark |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Mark
Thanks for the interest. As far as I am aware, BLENHEIMS over GREECE & CRETE should be available as from 10 May. MARYLANDS over MALTA has been printed and copies should soon be with me. Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
And don't forget to send me three AQ1s this week, Brian! Like to keep you busy and your hard work is very much appreciated.

Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi guys,
I just finished reading of Blenheims over Greece and Crete. So many new and so far unknown details about RAF Blenheims in Greece. Don’t miss this excellent and masterly detailed book. I highly recommend it! Aleks Ognjevic www.leadenskybooks.com |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Thanks guys
Your comments much appreciated. Contrary to Amazon.usa blurb - the book does not cover only 30, 84 and 211 Squadrons, but all those involved including Greek and Yugoslav. Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
My copy arrived yesterday. I hope to find time to start reading soon.
Brian what's next? |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Hi Dominik
Hope you'll enjoy! Next available will be MARYLANDS OVER MALTA - already with the publisher, just awaiting my allocation. Cheers Brian |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
G'day Brian,
'Blacks in RAF Blue': is this still in the pipeline? 'Air War over the Arctic 1941-42': ditto Cheers, Bruce |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Apologies for digging up an old thread...
Was Air War Over the Arctic 1941-42 ever released? I've had no luck trying to find anyone with a copy for sale online. |
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Steve, no it hasn’t been released yet. Brian is going over additional material that had come to light and so it might be a little longer.
|
Re: New books by Brian Cull
Thank you Nokose!
I can certainly wait longer! One of my grandfathers was in the merchant marine and sailed in one of the Murmansk convoys, hence my interest. |
