Thanks as usual for the links Rudi and Snautzer!

Note the last three links are extracted from a very recent album auction where it was captioned "Bulge".
Three pictures are far bigger; thanks for these precious links.

Regards,
Franck.

Thanks Jerry. This raises a question in my mind: this machine was published in Jet&Prop 3/2003, p. 21, associating it - if not mistaken - with Oblt. Dieterle. From then on, it was widely accepted for evidence, as illustrated in Neil Page's blog here: http://falkeeins.blogspot.com/search...109%20G-6%2FAS or on my own flickr pages for that matter.

Could you be more precise why we can discard Oblt. Dieterle as having no connection to "Grüne 5" ?

Thanks in advance
Marc

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Marc, Yes, I remember that article but the photo with the someone in or on the a/c but that was not Dieterle. During one of our several interviews with him we discussed his time with 2./ EJG2 , in fact he had the original emblem of this unit in his den. He gave us a copy of his Flugbuch and there is no "Green 5". He did fly "Green 14" twice but his last a/c was "Red 2" and that was at Schleswig.
Hope this helps, Jerry

Hello,

here is a survey of the German literature:

Jet & Prop 3/2003
Article of Joachim Geyer „Green 5“ = Probably Bf 109 G-14/AS, pilot Oblt Dieterle.

Jet & Prop 4/2003
Correction of Harald Herbert Vogt: „Green 5“ = Bf 109 G-6/AS

Luftwaffe im Focus Edition No. 4/2004
Article of Gerhard Stemmer“Facts and Dates Concerning the History of the Night Fighter Replacement Training Staffel, later I./EJG 2“
2./EJG 2 was commanded by Oblt Manfred Dieterle from 6 Nov 1944, but no personally connection to the Bf 109 G-6/AS „Green 5“.

Luftwaffe im Focus Special No. 2/2006
Article of Axel Urbanke „Almost A Miracle: „Green 5“ of 2./EJG 2 in Colour“

Luftwaffe im Focus Edition No. 13/2007
Reader’s Forum. Reproduction of the „Green 5“ colour photo in the special edition here in a better quality.

Leo

Thanks Leo ! I forgot about LiF 4, and there stands pretty much everything we know about this unit.

Neither have I and it would be interesting to hear what our 109 experts think of it.

Why does it look like an E-model? And why such a tail wheel??

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

It's a Bf 108 I would say, liaison plane belonging to some staff unit. Oddly enough I also believe this one is wearing JG 301s yellow-red fuselage band...

Re #1575:
apart from the nice Bf109 no one seems to take note of the yet unseen new Bernburg photographs with G-10 Mistels, other Ju88G and a He162 under construction.
I love it, am I alone?.
Thanks for pointing at this unfortunately overseen photograph collection.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

I nailed this machine with the help of Stefaan Bouwer and Franck Benoiton: it is Bf 109 G-10 W.Nr. 490 655 "Gelbe 24", Lt. Anton Wöffen, Staka 6./JG 27, near Rheinberg, Germany, after 11 March 1945. Other photos of this machine are published in Prien, Rodeike and Stemmer 1997, p. 462.

Cheers
Marc
