Re: eBay: German intrest
Regarding photo 1 above, was there more than one Hans Hackmack in Germany?
Since I never heard of the man before I googled him and as far could see the man I located was certainly no Nazi and was even sentenced to jail. That does not seem like a man Lufthansa should honor in late 1937 (while he was in jail) by naming a Ju 52 after him. Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Hans Hackmack (born in 1897) was a former Lufthansa and Junkers Luftverkehr pilot. He crashed in 1928 in a BFW M 20 at Augsburg.
Why would he be a Nazi? Lufthansa named most of its Ju 52s after pilots from World War I or pilots of the DLH who died in crashes later. |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Thanks Peter
The Hans Hackmarck you have is not the Hackmack I located on Google, hence my question. Since "my" Hackmarck was against the ruling Party in Germany and was jailed for it, I simply figured he could not be the one honored on the aircraft. I have no idea which political colour 'your' Hackmarck had and it does not interest me either in this aeronautical context. Cheers Stig |
