Two wrecks of Ju 88 Gs featured in this album, one is Ju 88 G-1 WNr. 710547 with two Abschussbalken:

https://abload.de/img/59152971_155269787486hij7v.jpg
the other is probably a G-6, note the lower part of the first WNr. digit '6' in the typical position, visible on one of the photos:

Some of the P-51 photos in this album are captioned Y-99. If the Ju 88s are also pictured there, then they may have belonged to III./NJG 2 which was based at Gütersloh for a while in late 1944.

Quite right, Nick. Post 981 on page 99 & Peter Werry's post 993 on page 100).

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Ju88G-1 W.Nr. 710547 (3C+PN) returned onto unit strength with II./NJG4 at Gütersloh or Lippspringe on 5 February 1945 after repair.

It possibly didn't stay with II./NJG4 for long after this, since a Ju88G-6 took over the 3C+PN code by the beginning of March 1945.

Cheers

Rod

Thanks for this lead and connection, Rod: indeed the next "3C+PN", Ju 88 G-6 W.Nr. 620643, was found at Wunstorf by war's end and figures in some of the best known IWM photos:

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hi Marc,

According to the available daily II./NJG4 strength & serviceability returns in ULTRA, Ju88G-6 W.Nr. 620643 was with II./NJG4 on 7 March 1945 (Verbandskennzeichen unknown), so it was taken on unit strength before that date. Ju88G-1 W.Nr. 710547 is only mentioned once in the returns for January - March 1945.

It was disingenuous for me to say 710547 went off unit strength - possibly only the Verbandskennzeichen changed. II./NJG4 still had a few G-1s on strength up to the date of the last available strength & serviceability return on 22 March 1945.

Cheers

Rod

Post #1793: I believe that this photograph was taken at Fl.Horst Flensburg-Weiche (coordinates 54.774503 9.377935) and illustrates Ju 52 3mg6e (MS) (WNr. unknown) marked 3K+CK (C=yellow) from 2./I./MSGr.1. It has been ignobly piled atop an Fw 190 F-8 (WNr. unknown) marked C+I yellow.
