What you look at is an old rune, the letter M. Runes fitted in very well in the National Socialist thinking and religious beliefs, so nothing strange with that. Cheers Stig |

Indeed, cf some ZG26 too ... 1/It remains that we find it mainly on Seenot machines emblems 2/ Doesn't mean that Ju52 is a Seenot machine, though. One must take Snautzer answer for what it is basically: an answer to Ed question :) ... Shields: |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Andy,
Thank you. I am familiar with the runic alphabet. What I'd like to know is which other Ju 52s carried this marking? And to which unit or squadron did they belong to? Best, Ed |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
1883-Location is almost certainly Freeman Field, Indiana. In the early 1950s I used to fly into that location and the hangars and tower are as I remember them, not Wright or Patterson. By that time the Luftwaffe aircraft were gone but there were still some US fighters: P-51s, P-63s and probably the last remaining P-43.

Post #1893. This is the first time I'm seeing a stencil below the cockpit: FT HANS. Any further information?
Best, Ed |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello Ed!
I think this is a Ju 52 which was used by Lufthansa before. Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben, Wolfgang |

Post #1901. The vertical tail is unusual. It appears to be like the American 'strake.'

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Correct, it is a captured P-51.
