Information I have about this plane comes directly from one of the 3 aviators on the V 555 : Ofw. Karl Nitschke. I met him in 2008 and he gave me much information about his military career. I could copy, too, his flugbuch, a wonderful flugbuch, so precise and so complete, with all his comments ! In my book about the Wekusta 2, I related as precisely as possible, his military career, from October 1937 to 8th of May 1945.

Concerning the other question you asked me (2 unusual antennas), I have no information. Nevertheless, I really appreciated what Leo (Rottler) told you about V 555.

And I take the opportunity of this thread to warmly thank you for all that you bring to us, the Toch forumers, by your daily photos and comments.

Pierre

Hello Pierre,

Thank you for the additional information and your kind words.

Best,
Ed

Did Nitschke have Me 262 WN in his flugbuch? Thank you.

Unfortunately, not ! but - just for the fun - in the column of his flugbuch about this last "mission", he noted "Flight to captivity in the American zone".

looks to be late 1950s/early 1960s? I think that's the X-3 Stiletto in the background

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

If that is the X-3, I would put the date between 1952 and 1954.

Not sure what you base your dates on Ed?

I don't think the two aircraft ever met before they came together at the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB
The X-3 was handed over 28 Sep 1956
The Ju 88 D FE-1598 arrived in Jan 1966
