Re: What unit escorted the Ju 88 R "defection"?
I wrote a section about this in my book about the War in NE Scotland....
There was also a book publish years ago by Robert Hill, although putting together the facts from various sources it appears to have a lot of "fiction" https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/B...-srp1-_-title1 In the national archives is a file on the defection. Mainly aimed at the lack of control/security in keeping this secret, it details the letters / phonecalls intercepted rom the base/village on people seeing the aircraft. "Landing of enemy aircraft at R.A.F. Station , Dyce Scotland" Air 15/413 is the reference https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ils/r/C2199061 Chris Goss provided me with some images of the aircraft and the RAF pilots as I recall. |
