Hello,

Does anyone have a copy of this publication of Der Landser about Mölders? Is this just a rehash of what has already been published, including his recent bio, or is there new info and perhaps photography in it that hasn't already been published elsewhere. I already have both bios of him and his FB.

Hi Larry,

The Landser issue has no research value -- it's written almost entirely in conversational form, with very few dates or place names. The inside front cover has 3 photos of Mölders (no aircraft visible.)

You mentioned that you already have two bios of Mölders. Not sure which ones those are, but here's a list of resources that might be useful to you:
  • "Werner Mölders: Die Biographie" by Kurt Braatz, NeunundzwanzigSechs Verlag, 2008, 400 pages [definitive]
  • "German Fighter Ace Werner Mölders: An Illustrated Biography" by Obermaier and Held, Schiffer, 2006, 230 pages [great pictorial coverage]
  • "Werner 'Vati' Mölders" by Robert Michulec, Mushroom Model Pubs, 2000, 88 pages [good photo selection, aircraft profiles, victory list]
  • "Die ruhmreichen Vier" by Günther Just, National Verlag, 1972, 126 pages, 39 of which on Mölders [detailed narrative and chronology, no photos]
  • "Jagdflieger Werner Mölders" by Hermann Hagena, Helios, 2008, 229 pages [more about Mölders' ideology, religion, and legacy than about his service history]
The following are different editions of Mölders' biography by Fritz von Forell:
  • "Mölders und seine Männer" (hard- and softcover), 1941 [more pictorial content than the editions below]
  • "Mölders: Mensch und Flieger", 1951
  • "Werner Mölders: Flug zur Sonne", 1976
Hope that helps,
Leon Venter.
