Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Hi Giandrea,
Thanks. I was thrown by the seller's caption. That and the fact that the headrest resembled later Macchi monoplane fighters - or so I thought! Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a series of photos of Italian aircraft. This photo of a Ca.311 of 126 Squadriglia is amonmg the nicer photos https://www.ebay.it/itm/156109360302...sAAOSwSBVl7RbB Alas the remainder of the photos contain both wartime and prewar machines and I'd like to request the understanding of the moderators for this. Also included is a photo album. These can be found at https://www.ebay.it/sch/i.html?_dkr=...autica&_sop=10 Finally a question about these photos of Ju 52s. Are these post war as I suspect or perhaps Co-Belligerent Air Force? https://www.ebay.it/itm/156109300769...8AAOSwUKhl7QVT Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Two points Clint
Surely the Ca 311 is from 128 Sqd and to make a guess, those Ju 52 could well be AAC.1.... Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Hi Stig,
Yes to both.A bit of a lack of caution on my part given that the other 80+ photos all contain italian aircraft (apart from the downed Skua!). Looking at the helmets of the paras, they definitely don't look like those worn by the Nembo. So AAC.1. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Hello,
Looking again through the last batch of photos I linked to,this photo of a Fiat CR.32 at the Scuola di Volo Falconara https://www.ebay.it/itm/156111349904...Bk9SR_SNn_7IYw Prompts a further question.Do published or online sources exist providing a} a list of the Regia Aeronautica Flying Schools 1940-43 and b} Is there a breakdown by flying school of the type and number of aircraft used at each flying school, ideally for 10.06.40,but slightly before that date or for any wartime date? Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Falconara housed a first period training school so I think that only Breda 25 / Ro.41 were in charge. The CR.32 was probably photographed during a stop at that base (if the picture was taken there and not in another airport...).
In front of the white band you can see a "F", probably part of the former code FOG (Foggia). AFAIK the response to your questions is negative. ciao Gianandrea |
Re: Photos Italian Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a IMAM Ro.1, presumably of a training unit. The full marking cannot be seen, can anyone identify the unit from the visible markings? https://www.ebay.it/itm/145932910482...Bk9SR6jP37mkZA Regards, Clint |
