You're most welcome, Jim !

For your first attachment, I would respectfully suggest a Ju 52/3m; notice the Go 242 in the background.

The second attachment does show us Fl.Pl. Prenzlau, captured late April 1945.

Cheers
Marc

You're right, Marc. It is a Ju 52/3m by its tail! Thank you for the location of the second attachment.

Matolion, thank you for finding the location of the first,

Jim

Fw 190 A somewhere else, and the D-9 should be new? Thoughts?

The D-9 could be - based on the camouflage pattern - from the Focke-Wulf production line but it is the first time I see a Dora with a solid black fuselage cross!

ChristanK and Schlageter,

Regarding the D-9, we have both W.Nr. 210231 and 601058 listed as "ausgeschlachtet" in the relevant A.I.2(g) report dated 14 April 1945. Five other burnt out D-9's are accounted for without W.Nr.

Cheers

There is a A.I.2 report on Erfurt-Bindersleben? Thanks Marc, I did not know this! :) Is the Fw 190 A in my photo also mentioned?

Hallo!

That unknown biplane could be Ar 66 from 3./NSGr 11 (Estonians), but that is mere a guess.

Kari

The Heinkel looks as if it's W.Nr. 8037 (or possibly 8057) — see attached image detail.

Re: Captured German planes, not from eBay

It's indeed 8037. This is He 111 H-16 S3+EM which was captured in Mönchengladbach (which was called München-Gladbach back then). A plane which has been photographed very often but this is the first time I see its Werknummer. Now that this is known, the Stammkennzeichen SM+KD can be decyphered on its wing undersides (it was partly overpainted). Thanks Marc and Nick!

A machine in 4./TGr. 30 markings that late in the war is interesting because the Staffel itself didn't exist by then, as far as I know.

Re: Captured German planes, not from eBay

Dear Gang,

Though known since a long time, here again a few photos made by R. H. Dibnah during his service time, most probably in Germany, Spring 1945. First, the known locations:

Fw 190 A-8 W.Nr. 350210 "Weisse 5", II./JG 54, found at Lüneburg, April 1945:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Bf 109 K-4 W.Nr. 332700 (the one-winged) and W.Nr. 330255 "Schwarzer Winkel, Stab III./JG 27, both found at Wunstorf, 8 April 1945:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Si 204 D, Wunstorf, 8 April 1945:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Ju 87 D "??+J?" and Ju 88, Wunstorf, after 19 April 1945:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Now for the location unknown ones:

Fw 190 and Fw 200 :
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Ar 234 half destroyed and put up as a decoy:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Bf 109 K-4 W.Nr. unknown "Weisse 24", 1./JG 27:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/230571...7610334641015/

Any ideas ?

Cheers
Marc

Thanks so much, Nick ! It is highly appreciated.

Now we have only the Bf 109 K-4 "Weisse 24", the Fw 190 and the Fw 200 seen on the other photos to localise.

Nick,

Possibly replacement wings from another Fw 190? As I recall, when spare parts were no longer available, parts from other nearby aircraft that were no longer serviceable were used.

Description: Women's Army Corps Private Betty Jones, left, receiving telegram from First Lieutenant Kathryn Leach of the Red Cross Motor Corps. Miss Leach handing Mrs. Jones a letter from her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Richard I. Jones, who was captured at Panay and is a prisoner of war in Japan. The delivery was made at Farrington Field where Jones is helping set up the United States Army Air Forces (AAF) "Shot From the Sky" exhibit. The two women are standing in front of an airplane. Thank you for this find.

Note how close to the canopy the black cross is painted. This is the famous (?) Bf 109 F-4 having a Red (?) 19 painted behind the cross, a white band around the fuselage and a large Swastika re-painted on rudder. I have no other informations.

Franck.
