based on more photo, this is probably the same plane maybe a 1 year later or damaged during recovery: https://www.ebay.de/itm/MD356-Foto-W...75.c100623.m-1 Faenor |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Blenheim TR-X photos, May 1940.
These were discussed during February (posts 457-466) and March (476). It now seems certain that the hitherto unidentified TR-X is L4859 of 59 Squadron. This was forced landed on 15 May 1940 due to enemy action near Gembes in southern Belgium. Thanks to colleagues posting photos and enhancing them I can just barely read parts of the serial in two photos; 'L4...' and '...59'. The location 'Gembes' and month are written on the back of at least one photo. I stated back in February I hoped to see the AIR 81/2824 casualty file for this loss and have now done so. The serial is not mentioned but the wireless operator/air gunner in his 1945 POW questionnaire recorded the aircraft was 'X' and the location a village two miles from Gembes. Also that the aircraft was forced landed and did not crash. Unusually there is a second AIR 81 file for this loss which I have not seen yet. I am delighted that TR-x has been identified at last and thankful to all who helped. Regards, Martin Gleeson. |
