Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Its all in the detail Faenor, the seller shows 15 June but the actual date is 15 Juli, as shown
on the rear of the card. And as you say it has to be the latter going by the photos. Well found. Regards Mike |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
The Battle is QT-H of 142 Sqn.
It is a quite-well photographed machine, but I'm not aware that it's identity has even been conclusively ascertained. It is usually quoted as L5440, abandoned at Berry-au-Bac on 16 May 1940. |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Joel/Bertrand
Fascinating!! I can to a certain degree understand Joel's ID since the digits 14 and the markings of GC I/3 can be seen, but how on earth Bertrand do you nail yours??? Is it possibly the odd placement of the roundel or something else? Amazing Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi Stig,
As I know you have -or would like to have - all the LELA press books, check page 152 of Le GC III/3 en 1939-1940, condors et pirates au combat. (Collection Histoire des Unités n°13) book that I wrote with Bernard Philippe ; you will have three photos of this D.520.... Bertrand |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Aha Bertrand :)
Yes you are right, I try and get as many of the LELA Presse books as possible, but I have concentrated on aircraft types, so no unit histories for me. As I see it I would need to be far more fluent in French than I am, meaning they would be more or less wasted on me....unfortunately. Fantastic memory as well Bertrand to remember where you have seen it. I very much enjoy your expertise :) Cheers Stig |

Hi all,
previous link - link no 1 : maybe Spitfire P9374 from 92. SQ - lost 23.5.1940. Faenor |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Faenor. Think you are right; flown by Cazenove (POW), 92 still used "GR" codes. Should it be 24th ? ....2 close serials lost on 23rd.

Thanks Ed.
#11 will be Blenheim L4856/TR-K of 59 Sqn. It was damaged on 11 May 40 and later abandoned at Poix on 19 May 40. Its only service was with 59 Sqn, evidence of the pre-war squadron code PJ is clearly visible. |
