Hi
Can someone help me with the following Do 17 photo. https://www.ebay.de/itm/384163654911....c101110.m1982 Within the Balkenkreutz one can see three digits '852' (poss 832 but I don't think so) I can only presume this is the WNr and thus a Do 17 E Can someone confirm that please, and also advise if it was a common or rare way of painting the WNr? I have personally only seen this type of marking once before. I have images of Do 17 F-1 No.972, which I think is from 3./122 (stamps in the Bordfunker's Sports Book for August 1937 are for this Staffel). It crashed on 13 August 1937 due to an engine fire. This aircraft appears to carry no individual identification markings apart than a '972' across the Balkenkreuz. In the Bordfunker's Flugbuch he also refers to the aircraft as '972' and in the captions on the photos he has also written '972'. The aircraft is pretty messed up and other markings may be there but just not visible, but I don't think so. |

There are several other entries for Do 17s in the same Flugbuch, showing a selection of number references so it looks like it was the practice for Do 17s at the time in this unit. |

Re posts 2190 and 2200. After a prolonged absence, have returned to home base and located the appropriate images. The Ju 88 in the album was almost 100% V1 after its rebuild with a pressurized crew compartment. Several nice shots in the subject album.

The Ju 88 V1 did not have a pressurized cabin.
The system worked with oxygen enrichment. The pressure inside and outside the cabin was always the same. There were no structural reinforcements to the cabin, but it was built gas-tight. |

Yes, in principle, but he cabin with the auxiliary systems was very complicated and required maintenance, so that this route was not taken any further. The tests were not finished.
