Re: Do 217 Combat Units of WW2
Luftwaffe records do not specify take off airfield or unit neither does Ulf Balke. By a process of elimination and a Flugbuch entry, II./KG 40 went for the east coast targets losing one aircraft. Second times accord with the 2./KG 2 loss off the Isle of Wight. Third wave (TO 0821-0823 hrs) no losses and no FB entries to match

Re: Do 217 Combat Units of WW2
Thank you! Another one: do you possibly know in what place Obergefreiter Wolfgang Künzer of 9./KG 2 died from his wounds on the night of 9/10 January 1943 (at 0130 hrs)?
It's not on the WASt death card in Fold3.com... Regards, Timon |
Re: Do 217 Combat Units of WW2
You should really be asking this on the Luftwaffe Forum not Book Forum or contact me direct as these posts are about my book. However:
Do 217 E-4, 4399, U5+CT. Damaged by friendly fire from a ship returning from an attack on the Humber Estuary and force-landed north of Groeningen. Ogefr Karl Müller (F) and Ogefr Kurt Bein (BF) unwounded. Uffz Adolf Ehm (B) wounded, Ogefr Wolfgang Künzer (BM) mortally wounded |
