Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a better image of the NFW B.I N.14 as seen in post #48 of this thread. https://www.ebay.de/itm/405369453323...Bk9SR-rf98TqZA Also possibly of interest is an aircraft I've been puzzling over. The aircraft in the background has H.F.C on the fuselage. I've no idea what his means. Any thoughts https://www.ebay.de/itm/296807972069...Bk9SR7a-pfHiZA Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
I really require assistance with this machine. B.341/15 is a serial that appears in the published sources as an Euler aircraft. So does the writing on the rear of the two postcards in fact correspond to the so far unpublished serial B.841/15? The machine shown certainly could be a three bay Aviatik. The two photos of the aircraft can be seen at https://www.ebay.de/itm/235868354498...kAAOSw~5JnWsEH https://www.ebay.de/itm/296876298078...YAAOSwu2ZnWsBe Further photos from the seller can be seen here including the definite Aviatik B.823/15. Well definite if the text on the rear of the photo is correct. But the machine is an Aviatik. So at this stage I believe that the machine is an Aviatik, but if so what type number in Aviatiks system P.?? https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_dkr=...mstadt&_sop=10 Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Well Clint
I wonder if the year stated by the individual who wrote the text on the flip side is wrong. If we take B.341/14 it actually fits a known range The same is actually true regarding a second identified crash where he says it was B.823/16. I got nothing on a single Aviatik B-type ordered in 1916. I will not venture a guess about the type. German two-seaters? Yack... :) Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Good thinking Stig.B.341/14 makes much more sense. I've had an opportunity to think more about the type shown also and think we can definitely say that it is a P.15.
Moreover, I don't believe that the year number above was the only error on the rear of the photos. Looking at 823. It is in fact a Aviatik C.I 823/15 or 823/16.The rudder arrangement is typical of a C.I (but also the B.II). Speaking of 1916 B types what is your highest Bestellnummer for that year? Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Morning Clint
I agree, the B.823/16 feels far better as a C.I 823/16. I go for the year 1916 since otherwise we have a double fault, and that only happens in tennis.... :D Regarding the B.341/14 all the others in that range are B.I in my list. Herris is not much use here. The highest "B-number" in 1916 I have is a Fokker B.I 1079, but let it also be said I have that from the Internet way back. I have not made any combined BNr lists myself. Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Thanks Stig,
I think your reference to the Fokker B.I is to the FFA 9b machine, possibly from Paul Leamans's Fokker book. At least that is where my reference to the machine originates. This machine would be the reason for my question about your highest Bestellnummer for a 1916 B type. I had wondered why I had no definite machines between it and LVG B.I (Ot) 639/16.As for B.1079, I think other Fokker B.I definitely indicate /14 is the correct year, contra Leaman. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Sorry Clint
Don't have Leaman's book. What I have is a list (36 pages) which I printed in 2013 from somewhere on the 'net. Called German Army Aircraft Serial Numbers between 1910-1918 I have not bothered to make any list myself which I perhaps should have done, but time never seems to be enough... Cheers Stig |

Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of Albatros C.III 852/15 of the Flieger Beobachterschule at Thorn. This is an interesting photo as published sources have 852/15 as a Albatros C.IV. https://www.ebay.de/itm/116427905280...Bk9SR9ru6aD_ZA The seller has a number of other photos from the same unit https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_dkr=...0pilot%20thron Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a Rumpler G.II 110/15 presumably of Kasta 9 https://www.ebay.de/itm/365332757099...Bk9SR4rZzr-LZQ Numerous other photos,of admittedly variable quality by the same seller can be found here https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_dkr=...w=1918&_sop=10 I am intrigued by the aircraft showing markings as per the next link. Has anyone previously seen aircraft with this style of marking? https://www.ebay.de/itm/365332955005...0AAOSw2Epnf8Ff Regards, Clint |
